Leonardo's Letter
Amboise, France, 1518. In the final months of his life, the great Florentine artist, Leonardo Da Vinci, is a guest of the King of France. He is old and sick, and wonders if his life has been worth living. His young lover, Francesco or "''Cecho"'' has talked the great man into writing the story of his life, which he does in the form of a letter. Now, that letter has been found and translated, and we are taken on a great journey with Leonardo as he recounts his many adventures, victories, and defeats. What was it like being one of the greatest geniuses in human history? What can we learn from Leonardo's view of the Italian Renaissance? See the great Leonardo as he struggles with his own sense of meaning, as well as a mysterious enemy who tries to destroy him at every turn. Steven Farrington is a teacher, translator, and writer who lives in Rochester, NY.
