Add Gay Book List to your Discord
Bring the catalog into your community. Our free bot lets anyone look up LGBTQ+ books, browse recommendations, rate and shelve their reads, and follow the weekly blog — all without leaving chat. A handy resource for any queer book club, server, or reading group.
Commands
/book— Look up an LGBTQ+ book by title and/or author./top— Top-rated books overall, or within a genre./list— Browse a curated list./series— Books in a series, in reading order./author— An author's books and their cumulative rating./narrator— Audiobooks a narrator has voiced, and their rating./blog— The latest post from the Gay Book List blog./blog-feed— Auto-post new blog posts to a channel in this server./status— Set your reading status for a book (links your account)./shelf— Manage your custom bookshelves (links your account)./rate— Rate & review a book (links your account)./library— View your library — your shelves and reading status./calendar— Share one of your public reading calendars (links your account)./suggest— Suggest a new book for the catalog (moderator-reviewed)./unlink— Disconnect your Discord from your Gay Book List account./share— Share a book, list, series, author, or calendar — posts a rich link preview./help— List the bot's slash commands and what they do.
Start typing a command and Discord suggests matches as you go. Commands that save to your profile (ratings, shelves, reading status) ask you to link your Gay Book List account once.
What it can see
The bot only responds to its slash commands — it can't read your messages. When you link your account, it stores the ratings and shelves you create on your Gay Book List profile; a server admin can also opt in to weekly blog posts with /blog-feed. Buy links always live on the Gay Book List website, never in Discord.
