Sometimes it causes me to tremble

From Amazon.com:

People don't take the Bible seriously. At least, that is the sermon of minister George McKenna. To McKenna's surprise, the most unlikely person in his wealthy congregation does take him seriously. Widow Rose Templeton invites a homeless man into her house, leading other parishioners and McKenna himself to question her sanity. When Rose is murdered and her houseguest goes missing, people assume the homeless man is responsible, and McKenna is compelled to find a murderer. This is a thoughtful and provocative look at the teachings of the Bible and their implications in our society. Especially compelling is the portrait of a minister who doesn't have all the answers and is often just as confused as his parisioners when it comes to matters of faith. Sexual situations may turn off some readers, but others should find this novel compelling. Highly recommended.
