Discovering that she is in love with film-maker Maggi England, anthropology professor Dr. Karen Latham, fled to the old house in Pelham Falls, on the east coast of Maine. Isolated by winter snow and ice, Karen knows her love would derail her career and all her plans. As she becomes increasingly isolated, she sees, hears and dreams inexplicable things. In the small town, old Etta Cavendish knows the house where Karen is staying has been haunted by the spirit of Blessing McCartland, still mourning her own lost love -- a love who bore a strong resemblance to Karen.
